Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place phone on a stable, flat surface.

  1. Connect to Network: Plug Ethernet cable from your network switch into the LAN port on the phone.
  2. Connect a Computer (Optional): Plug an Ethernet cable from the PC port on the phone to your computer's network port.
  3. Connect Handset: Plug the coiled handset cord into the handset jack.
  4. Power the Phone: Use Power over Ethernet (PoE) from your switch, or connect the optional external power adapter to the DC input.

WARNING! Use only approved power adapters. Ensure network cables are securely connected.

First-Time Setup

Power on the phone; it will attempt to boot and contact the configuration server.

  1. Network Configuration: The phone should automatically obtain an IP address via DHCP. Check the network settings in the menu (Settings > Network).
  2. Server Configuration: Ensure the phone is configured with the address of your call server (e.g., Avaya IP Office). This may be pre-provisioned or set via menu.
  3. Extension/User Registration: Enter your extension number and password as provided by your system administrator.
  4. Adjust Preferences: Set time/date, ring tones, display contrast, and volume levels via the Settings menu.

CAUTION! Do not unplug the phone during the boot or firmware upgrade process.

Connecting to Network

  2. Connect the network cable from the switch to the phone's LAN port.
  3. For a computer, connect a cable from the phone's PC port to the computer's network port.
  4. The phone will boot and attempt to register with the call server.

Tip: Use Category 5e or better Ethernet cables for reliable performance.

Making and Managing Calls

Basic call handling procedures.

  1. Make a Call: Lift handset or press Speakerphone, dial number, or press a programmed speed dial button.
  2. Answer a Call: Lift handset, press Speakerphone, or press the flashing line key.
  3. End a Call: Hang up handset or press the Drop/Speakerphone button.
  4. Hold: Press Hold button. Retrieve by pressing the held line's button.
  5. Transfer: During a call, press Transfer, dial the target number, and hang up. Consultative transfer: announce call first.
  6. Conference: During a call, press Conference, dial second party, press Conference again to connect all.
  7. Call Forwarding: Activate via menu (Settings > Call Features > Forwarding) or feature code.
  8. Redial: Press Redial button or select from call log.

WARNING! Emergency calls (e.g., 911) may have specific limitations on VoIP systems; consult your administrator.

Programmable Features

Programmable buttons can be assigned as line appearances, speed dials, or feature keys (e.g., Call Park, Pickup). Configuration is typically done via the phone's web interface or system administrator tools.

Common Features: Speed Dial, Do Not Disturb (DND), Call Park, Call Pickup, Busy Lamp Field (BLF).

Care & Cleaning

Disconnect power before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the phone. For stubborn marks, dampen cloth slightly with water. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

CAUTION! Never spray liquids directly onto the phone. Avoid getting moisture into openings.
