Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable desk surface.

  1. Connect to network: Use Ethernet cable from switch to phone's LAN port.
  2. Connect computer: Use second Ethernet cable from phone's PC port to computer.
  3. Power the phone: Use PoE from switch or connect external power adapter.
  4. Connect handset: Plug coiled handset cord into handset jack.
  5. Optional headset: Plug into 2.5mm headset jack.

WARNING! Use only approved power adapter. Ensure network cables are securely connected.

First-Time Setup

Power on phone; wait for initialization.

  1. Network configuration: Phone obtains IP via DHCP by default. Check IP address in Options > Status.
  2. Server configuration: Contact administrator for SIP server or Avaya Communication Manager details.
  3. Extension assignment: Administrator assigns extension number and configures settings.
  4. Basic settings: Adjust display contrast, ring tone, volume via Options menu.

CAUTION! Do not unplug during firmware upgrade. Contact administrator for configuration changes.

Access Options menu via button or navigation. Front buttons: MUTE, SPEAKER, HEADSET, NAVIGATION cluster, VOLUME controls, programmable buttons.

Connecting to Network

LAN: Connect to switch. PC: Connect computer to phone's PC port for pass-through.

  2. Use Cat5e or better Ethernet cables.
  3. For PoE, verify switch provides 802.3af power.
  4. Check link LEDs: Green for active connection.

Tip: Contact network administrator for VLAN and QoS settings for optimal voice quality.

Basic Call Handling

Make, answer, end calls using handset, speakerphone, or headset.

  1. Make call: Lift handset or press SPEAKER/HEADSET, dial number, press Dial softkey or #.
  2. Answer call: Lift handset, press SPEAKER, or press Answer softkey.
  3. End call: Hang up handset or press End Call softkey.
  4. Hold: Press Hold button or softkey during active call.
  5. Transfer: Press Transfer, dial target, press Transfer again or wait for answer.
  6. Conference: Press Conference, dial participant, press Conference again to connect.
  7. Redial: Press Redial softkey or dial ##.

WARNING! Emergency calls may require direct analog line. Verify with administrator.

Advanced Features

Speed dial: Program buttons for one-touch dialing. Call forwarding: Enable via Feature access codes or administrator. Do Not Disturb: Activate via softkey or Feature code. Message Waiting: Visual LED and display indicator. Directory: Access corporate directory if configured.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug power before cleaning. Use slightly damp cloth for housing; dry cloth for display. Do not use solvents or abrasives.

CAUTION! Avoid liquids near openings. Do not spray cleaners directly on phone.
