The Avaya Model 1416 is a digital deskphone designed for use with Avaya IP Office and other compatible communication systems. Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place phone on stable, flat surface.

  1. Connect to network: Use provided Ethernet cable to connect LAN port to network jack.
  2. Connect power: Plug power adapter into phone and wall outlet.
  3. Connect handset: Attach coiled handset cord to handset and phone base.
  4. Optional headset: Plug compatible headset into 2.5mm headset jack.

WARNING! Use only approved power adapter. Ensure proper ventilation around device.

First-Time Setup

Power on phone; wait for initialization and registration with system.

  1. Check registration: Display should show extension number or system name when ready.
  2. Set date/time: Configure through system administrator or phone menu if available.
  3. Program keys: Assign frequently used features to programmable keys via menu.
  4. Adjust volumes: Set handset, speaker, and ringer volumes to comfortable levels.

CAUTION! Do not attempt internal repairs. Contact qualified service personnel.

Controls and Settings

Access menu via MENU button. Navigation with arrow keys and SELECT.

Front Panel: Handset, display, programmable keys, volume controls, MUTE, HOLD, SPEAKER, REDIAL, CONFERENCE, MENU, arrow keys, SELECT, EXIT.

Basic Settings: Ringer type/volume, display contrast, time/date format. Programmable Keys: Assign line appearances, speed dials, feature access (transfer, conference, etc.). System Settings: Network configuration (typically set by administrator), language selection.

Connecting Devices

Network: LAN port to switch/router. Optional: Headset to 2.5mm jack.

  1. Ensure phone and network equipment are powered off before connecting cables.
  2. Connect Ethernet cable from LAN port to network outlet.
  3. For PoE, ensure switch supports 802.3af; otherwise use power adapter.
  4. Connect handset cord securely to handset and base.

Tip: Use cable ties to manage excess cord length for safety and neatness.

Advanced Features

Supports call handling features and system integration.

  1. Call Transfer: Press TRANSFER, dial target, press TRANSFER again or hang up.
  2. Conference: During call, press CONFERENCE, dial third party, press CONFERENCE to connect.
  3. Speed Dial: Program numbers to programmable keys for one-touch dialing.
  4. Call Forwarding: Activate via feature code or menu to redirect calls.
  5. Do Not Disturb: Enable to silence ringer for incoming calls.
  6. Message Retrieval: Press MESSAGE key or dial voicemail access number.
  7. Display Call Information: View caller ID, call duration, and directory entries.
  8. Programmable Key Customization: Assign functions based on user preference.

WARNING! Do not use with non-approved accessories. Use only Avaya-recommended headsets.

Accessibility Features

Visual Indicators: LED lights for line status and messages. Audio Adjustments: Independent volume controls for handset, speaker, and ringer. Ringer Options: Multiple tone selections including visual ring indicator.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug power before cleaning. Use slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

CAUTION! Avoid moisture entering openings. Keep away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
