Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place phone on a stable, flat surface.

  1. Connect to Network: Plug the telephone line cord (RJ45) into the LAN port on the phone and the corresponding wall jack or switch port.
  2. Connect Handset: Plug the coiled handset cord into the HANDSET port and the handset.
  3. Connect Power: Use the provided power adapter. Plug the adapter into the DC IN port on the phone and into a standard 120V AC outlet.
  4. Optional Connections: Connect a headset to the HEADSET port. Connect a PC to the PC DATA port if provided.

WARNING! Use only the approved Avaya power adapter. Ensure cables are routed to prevent tripping hazards.

First-Time Setup

Once powered, the phone will boot and register with the communication system.

  1. Check Registration: The display should show your extension number and name once registered.
  2. Set Language: Press the Options softkey, navigate to User Preferences > Language, and select your preferred language.
  3. Set Date/Time: Date and time are typically provided by the system. Verify on the idle screen.
  4. Adjust Volume: Use the volume keys on the side of the phone to set comfortable levels for the ringer, handset, and speaker.
  5. Program Feature Keys: Consult your system administrator to configure the programmable keys for your needs (lines, speed dial, call park, etc.).

CAUTION! Do not attempt to configure system-level settings without administrator guidance.

Access user menus via the Options softkey on the idle screen.

Fixed Keys: HOLD, TRANSFER, CONFERENCE, MUTE, MESSAGE, VOLUME UP/DOWN, NAVIGATION ARROWS, SELECT.

Softkeys: Context-sensitive keys labeled on the display (e.g., Options, More, Dial, Exit).

User Menu Settings:
Preferences: Language, Display Contrast, Ring Tone selection, Volume settings.
Call Handling: Forwarding options (Busy/No Answer), Do Not Disturb.
Speed Dials: Program personal speed dial numbers to programmable keys.
Status: View missed/received/placed calls.

Connecting Devices

Handset: RJ9 connector to HANDSET port.
Headset: Plug into HEADSET port (2.5mm or RJ9). Enable via Headset key or menu.
Network: RJ45 cable from LAN port to network jack.
PC Data Passthrough: Connect PC to PC DATA port to share network connection (optional).

  1. Ensure the phone is powered off before connecting cables.
  2. Match connector types correctly (e.g., RJ9 for handset).
  3. For headset use, you may need to press the Headset key or select Headset Mode in the menu.

Tip: Use a certified headset for optimal audio quality and compatibility.

Basic Call Handling

  1. Make a Call: Lift handset or press Speaker. Dial number using the keypad. Or, press a programmed line key and dial.
  2. Answer a Call: Lift handset, press Speaker, or press the flashing line/key associated with the call.
  3. End a Call: Hang up handset or press Speaker or the End Call softkey.
  4. Place Call on Hold: Press the HOLD key. Press the same key or the held line key to retrieve.
  5. Mute: Press MUTE key during a call. Press again to resume.
  6. Adjust Volume: Use the side volume keys during a call for handset/speaker/headset volume, or on idle for ringer volume.
  7. Redial: Press the Redial softkey or dial code (e.g., #) to call the last number dialed.

WARNING! Do not use excessive force on keys or handset cord.

Advanced Features

Transfer: During a call, press TRANSFER, dial the target number, and hang up. Press TRANSFER again to complete a supervised transfer.
Conference: During a call, press CONFERENCE, dial the second party, and press CONFERENCE again to connect all.
Call Forwarding: Press Fwd All softkey or use menu (Options > Call Handling) to activate/deactivate.
Do Not Disturb (DND): Press DND softkey or use menu. A DND icon appears on screen.
Voicemail: Press the MESSAGE key or dial your voicemail access number. Follow prompts.
Programmable Keys: Hold a programmable key for 3 seconds to assign a feature (requires admin rights for some).

Care & Cleaning

Disconnect power before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the phone. For stubborn marks, dampen cloth slightly with water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or sprays directly on the phone.

CAUTION! Never allow liquid to enter any openings. Keep the phone away from extreme heat, cold, or humidity.

Troubleshooting
