Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, flat surface.

  1. Connect to Network: Plug an Ethernet cable from your network switch into the LAN port on the phone.

  3. Power the Phone: Use Power over Ethernet (PoE) from the switch, or connect the optional power adapter to the DC port.
  4. Connect Handset: Plug the handset cord into the dedicated jack.
  5. Connect Headset (Optional): Plug a wired headset into the headset jack.

WARNING! Use only the approved Avaya power adapter. Ensure cables are routed to avoid tripping hazards.

First-Time Setup

The phone will boot and attempt to register with the IP Office or communication server.

  1. Initial Boot: Wait for the phone to complete its startup sequence. The display will show boot progress.
  2. Check Registration: The extension number and name should appear on the idle screen once registered.
  3. Set Date/Time: Usually configured automatically via the server.
  4. Adjust User Preferences: Use the phone's menu to set ring tone, volume, and contrast.
  5. Program Keys: Assign line appearances or speed dial numbers to programmable keys via the web interface or system administrator.

Connecting to Network

  2. Connect the Ethernet cable from the switch to the phone's LAN port.
  3. For a computer, connect a cable from the phone's PC port to the computer's network port.
  4. Power on. The phone should obtain an IP address via DHCP.

Tip: The PC port provides a network pass-through, allowing your computer to share the phone's network connection.

Basic Call Handling

Making, answering, and managing calls.

  1. Make a Call: Lift handset or press Speaker. Dial number using keypad, then press Dial softkey or wait.
  2. Answer a Call: Lift handset, press Speaker, or press the flashing line key/Answer softkey.
  3. End a Call: Hang up handset, press Speaker button, or press EndCall softkey.
  4. Hold: Press HOLD button during a call. Press the held line key or Resume softkey to retrieve.
  5. Mute: Press MUTE button to turn microphone off (LED lights). Press again to unmute.
  6. Adjust Volume: Use VOLUME UP/DOWN buttons during a call (for handset/speaker) or when idle (for ringer).
  7. Transfer a Call: During a call, press Transfer, dial the target number, then press Transfer again or just hang up (depending on system configuration).

WARNING! Do not use excessive force on buttons or handset cradle.

Advanced Features

Call Forwarding: Set via menu or feature code to forward calls to another number. Do Not Disturb: Activate via menu to send calls directly to voicemail. Directory: Access corporate or personal directory via the Directory softkey. Conference: Use Conference softkey to add multiple parties to a call (consult system admin for feature access). Care & Cleaning
